Finding A Living Kidney Donor for our Brother in Christ

Throughout the old and new testament there are several examples of men who were after God's own heart. Servitude is a consistent theme throughout the Bible, starting with Abraham and culminating more than 40 generations later as Jesus presented Himself as the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus laid down his life that we may have life and have it more abundantly. He is the ultimate Shepherd.

As the Men of Round Oak Missionary Baptist Church go about their daily lives, we too have been provided a leader that is a man after God's own heart. For more than 44 years, he has lived the life of servitude in front of the people that the Lord has placed under his watch. Pastor Lionel P. Pointer, Jr., continues to live by the Word of the Lord in his daily walk and is a great inspiration to the men and the congregation he shepherds.

It is through much prayer and supplication, that God has placed on his heart the theme of “Prospering in a Plague.” (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGbUgLkWojKRrYEkHWqRzrA) He has shared with us from the book of Exodus on how obedience to the Word of God and being in His service allowed His chosen people to prosper under the most adverse conditions. And, we find that still to be true today as we believe that God has positioned His faithful servants to prosper under the current conditions in which we now live.

The Men of the Oak have been so inspired that we have been led to reexamine our commitment not only to God but to each other. We are but servants as we try to do God's will. John 13 provides a roadmap for us to achieve a spiritual objective that has been laid on our Shepherd’s heart and conveyed through teachings to the Men of the Oak. We have adopted this example from one of Jesus' ultimate acts of love for one brother to another. As our guiding light, and as we take on our initiatives for at least the next year, we will spearhead an effort to address a specific need in the body of Christ.

We, the Men of the Oak, will strive to do our part as God has His way. As Pastor has said on several occasions, “We have everything we need in the house.” Round Oak’s church theme: “It can be done,” comes from Philippians 4:13 and states: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. We know that through God, all things are possible, if you are operating in His will. Therefore, it is the initiative of the Round Oak Men to be a living example of Christian Men in Service, striving to do the will of God.

Our Initiative

The initiative undertaken by the Round Oak Men has been designed to address the urgent need for a living kidney donor within the next 365 days. Reverend Dr. Lyle Patrick Pointer needs a living kidney donor and it is our plan to organize a massive outreach campaign.
