Dr. Michelle Pointer

Dr. Michelle Pointer was born and raised in Montclair, New Jersey. At an early age, Dr. Pointer accepted Christ, joined and was raised in Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montclair, New Jersey. After marrying Pastor Pointer in 1971, she became a Baptist, and Dr. Pointer was baptized at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

After graduating high school, Dr. Pointer received a B.A. in Psychology from Fisk University, a Master in Guidance and Counseling from Bowie State University, and in 2001, Dr. Pointer received a Doctorate in Counseling (with and emphasis in Rehabilitation Leadership) from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Currently, Dr. Pointer currently serves as Full Professor and Department Chair for Applied Psychology and Rehabilitation Counseling at Coppin State University in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. She has served on state and national boards, committees/commission, presented extensively and has multiple publications.

ln 1976, Dr. Pointer became a member of Round Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Silver Spring Maryland. Jesus! Early in her ministry at the Oak, she instituted Loyalty Month and has continued chairing the stewardship emphasis month to the present. She also is the director of the Round Oak counseling ministry and has counseled scores of individuals, couples, families, and engaged couples. Dr. Pointer is a trainer and facilitator here at the Oak. She has developed and presented countless workshops over the years at the Oak, including her contributions to the "Now Open the Word" series, women's health sessions, fellowship ministry, and worked in many other areas as the Lord has led.

Dr. Pointer is the wife of Pastor Lionel Phillip Pointer. This beautiful couple celebrated 45 years of marriage on July 4, 2016. Dr. Pointer also is the proud mother of Rev. Lyle P. Pointer. She is the God mother of 7 children, and serves as a Godly example for all other mothers in the church.
